Dark Horse is partnering with Studio Hermitage, comics writer (and possible Eldritch Horror) Cullen Bunn (Arkham Horror: The Terror at the End of Time), artist Christopher Mitten (Witchfinder: The Reign of Darkness) to bring the Our Brilliant Ruin tabletop roleplaying game (TTRPG) setting to comics with the new series Our Brilliant Ruin: Horror at Crane Mansion. Depicting an Edwardian twist on Lovecraftian horror and dark murder mysteries, the series also features colorist Piky Hamilton, letterer Frank Cvetkovic, and cover art from Helen Mask (Critical Role: The Tales of Exandria: The Bright Queen). This series of three comic issues will tell a chilling tale from the world of the Our Brilliant Ruin TTRPG, starting with issue #1 available in March 2025.
“Role-playing games? Gothic horror? Rich backgrounds, histories, and stories? Sign me up! OUR BRILLIANT RUIN is my kind of setting, and I am absolutely honored to introduce consulting detective duo Elizabeth Ranseur and Arielle Wren to readers and players. We’ve got a chilling mystery for them to solve, and it will be a perfect window into the world of OUR BRILLIANT RUIN” said Bunn.
“We’re very pleased to work with Dark Horse and a team of extremely talented creators to bring the gilded-age drama and gothic horror of Our Brilliant Ruin into the exciting world of comics,” said Studio Hermitage CCO, Justin Achilli.
In Our Brilliant Ruin: Horror at Crane Mansion:
An investigator for hire finds herself in deep when a simple job of vetting a wealthy heiress’s suitors becomes a death trap. When guests at the heiress’s birthday party start turning up dead, their bodies brutally mangled, rumors and accusations start flying as our hero attempts to untangle a mystery she was not expecting to have to solve. The question in this Edwardian eldritch-nightmare meets Upstairs-downstairs drama becomes: who is a tragic victim, and who is the ruthless hunter?
Don’t miss your chance to learn the secrets of Our Brilliant Ruin: Horror at Crane Mansion #1 (of 3) when it arrives in comic shops on March 26, 2025, for $4.99. Visit Comic Shop Locator to help find stores near you.
